This years Oulton Festival proved to be the best ever with around £2400 raised for Village Hall improvements. Saturday 10th July saw a Talent Show and Barbecue at the Village Hall which was very well attended and raised over £400.
On Saturday 17th July, crowds enjoyed perfect weather at the Oulton Village Fete in the ground of Oulton Abbey. The Fete was opened by Pete Morgan from Radio Stoke and visitors were able to take cream teas and othwer refreshments, try their luck at the tombolas, purchase cakes from the various charity stalls and atttempt to "Bash the Rat". The was also a Birds of Prey display, archery, and pony and traction engine rides for children (and adults). Village Hall chairman Barbara Palmer thanked Dame Benedicta for allowing the Abbey grounds to be used and all those who had helped to make the Fete the best ever. Over £2000 was raised for Village Hall improvements including a new central heating system.
On Suday 18th the festival was rounded off by an outdoor Songs of Praise from thr natural amphitheatre at the rear of the Village Hall. The service was led by Rev Paul Kingman with St Johns Church Choir and Stone Town Band. Please click here to see full report and photos from Maureen Manley.
